How to donate

There are four ways to donate to the Federated Health Charities campaign:

  • Payroll pledges
  • One-time donations
  • Special events
  • Lottery tickets

Payroll pledges

Provincial employees in the Ontario Public Service (OPS), the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and participating crown agencies can donate to Federated Health Charities through their payroll. Payroll deductions are easy to set up and allow you to space your donation over up to 26 pay periods (i.e. one year), and your deduction will automatically be added to your T4, making it easy to claim your donation as part of your tax return.

Provincial employees with a WIN number and access to the WIN system can make payroll deductions via the self-service portal. Just sign into My OPS to access WIN using your WIN ID, and choose the “My Charity” tab from the main menu to make your donation.

If you:

  • do NOT have a WIN ID
  • cannot access WIN

Please fill out a donation form and give the completed form to one of the Federated Health Charities canvassers in your ministry, OPP or agency campaign.

Payroll deductions (whether made by WIN or a donation form) will start with your first pay period in July. If you space your donation over a year (or 26 pay periods), payroll deductions will end with the last pay period in June the following year. You can also choose to have your payroll pledge automatically renew each year by selecting “Automatic Pledge Renewal” making donating to Federated Health Charities even easier.

One-time donations

Provincial employees

If you are a member of the OPS, OPP or a participating crown agency, you can make a one-time donation by filling out donation form.

A receipt for your income tax credit will be emailed to you.

Not in the OPS but would like to donate?

Anyone can make a one-time donation to any or all of Federated Health Charities 21 member charities by cheque or credit card. All you need to do is fill out a donation form and send it to us A receipt for the income tax credit will be emailed to you.

Lottery tickets

Provincial employees can support Federated Health Charities by participating in our campaign lottery. Unfortunately, tickets are only available to members of the OPS, OPP and participating crown agencies.

Retirees

Retired members of the Ontario Public Service, including OPP members and employees of participating crown agencies, can make one-time donations to Federated Health Charities by filling out a Donation Form and sending it to Federated Health Charities. If you would like to make a regular, monthly donation, via credit card donation, please click here to join the campaign!

Donate Securities

Securities are the most efficient way to give charitably. Capital gains taxes don’t apply when securities are donated, so Federated Health Charities receives the full fair market value when the security is sold, and you get a tax receipt which reflects your larger contribution. Donate Through Planned Giving

Bequests are a way to help ensure the future of the organizations you support and to know that your charitable interests will carry on into the future. A bequest is a statement incorporated into your will that you wish to have a certain portion of your assets given to Federated Health Charities in your name.

Donate Your Car

Donate a Car Canada accepts vehicle donations for Federated Health Charities. Free towing is provided in most areas across Canada, or you can drop off your vehicle to maximize your donation.

When you donate your car, truck, RV, boat, or motorcycle to Federated Health Charities Corporation through Donate A Car Canada, it will either be recycled or sold at auction (depending on its condition, age and location). Donate a Car Canada will look after all the details to make it easy for Federated Health Charities Corporation to benefit.

After your vehicle donation is complete, our charity will email you a tax receipt. Please click here to donate a vehicle.
