Honourary Chair Welcome Message

Mar 29, 2024

Welcome to the 2024 Federated Health Charities campaign!

As the Honourary Chair of the 2024 campaign, I’m pleased to welcome everyone to this year’s campaign.

I am honoured to be the Honourary Chair for the 2024 campaign. Throughout my Ontario Public Service (OPS) career, I have been a proud supporter of Federated Health Charities. Every year, I am impressed by the generosity and dedication of volunteers and donors from the OPS, the OPP, and participating agencies across Ontario who come out every year to organize and support the campaign. We couldn’t do it without you.

If this is your first campaign, Federated Health Charities was established in 1983 by OPS members to raise funds to support health charities the way the United Way Campaign raises funds for social service agencies. Today, the Federated Health Charities campaign supports 21 charities focused on helping people living with conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, sickle cell disease, heart disease, and cystic fibrosis—to name just a few.

The Federated Health Charities campaign has always been run by and for Ontario’s provincial employees and that’s part of what makes this campaign special. When we come together, whether you make a payroll donation, attend a special event, or buy a lottery ticket, you’re helping make a difference in someone’s life.

Each year, the funds raised through the Federated Health Charities campaign go to help people in need in our communities, like the 1 in 5 adults in Ontario who are living with arthritis, 1 in 3 people in Ontario who have diabetes or prediabetes, and the 2 in 5 of us who will be diagnosed with cancer during our lives. When you donate to Federated Health Charities, you’re helping someone who is facing a serious challenge to their health—likely someone you know, whether it’s a member of your family, a friend or colleague, or someone in your community.

The Federated Health Charities campaign is also a great opportunity for us to reconnect with our peers and colleagues and recognize the many talented and creative individuals working in ministries, agencies, and OPP detachments across the province. I encourage everyone to get involved, attend an event, or help organize one, and spend a little time getting to know your colleagues better for a great cause.

Let’s make the 2024 Federated Health Charities the best one yet!
