Last Thursday, desktops across the OPS were rocking to the sounds of VERZUZ 4 – The Sound of Giving.
Presented by Federated Health Charities and OPSers Damion Copeland (TBS) and Rob Irwin (MPBSD), the fourth annual Verzuz song-for-song competition was a smashing success. Our three competitors – The One (Director Richard Sharpe, Black Equity Branch), Arand-Jello the Fellow with the Dough$ (CAO & AMD Jason Arandjelovic, MCU) and MC ICE W/ MASS Appeal (ADM Michelle Gittens, MCM) – battled it out with two-time Verzuz Champion, DJ Twyforce of the Soul Sonic Force (ADM Sean Twyford, TBS) over two hours in a presentation of DJ maestro-y that had the audience cheering and dancing in the (virtual) aisles.
The competition was intense, with DJs digging deep into back catalogues and party mixes, until only one DJ remained and a new Verzuz Champion was crowned – MCM’s very only MC ICE W/ MASS Appeal, ADM Michelle Gittens!
Thank you from us at Federated Health Charities to everyone who came out to Verzuz 4, commented, voted and donated to Federated Health Charities. Verzuz 4 raised more than $1,700 and counting towards this year’s campaign, money that goes directly to our charities to help our family, friends, colleagues and members of our communities all across Ontario who are facing serious and life-changing illnesses and health conditions.
We also want to thank our four DJs – ADM Arandjelovic, ADM Gittens, ADM Twyford, and Director Sharpe – for sharing their time, enthusiasm and amazing playlists with us; and a shout-out to our wonderful ASL interpreters Dean and Vanessa from Toronto Sign Language Interpreter Service for helping us make Verzuz accessible to more people across the OPS.
And finally, thank you to our hosts, Rob and Damion, for delivering another great event for Federated Health Charities.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Verzuz 4 – The Sound of Giving a success. You’re simply the best.
See you next year!
