The Canadian Liver Foundation was founded in 1969 by a committed group of business leaders and doctors who believed that liver disease needed a champion. There are over a hundred different diseases that affect the liver. The most common are non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, hepatitis A, B and C, and liver cancer. Today, nearly 1-in-4 people across Canada are affected by liver disease.

How is the Liver Foundation Helping?
The Canadian Liver Foundation invests in crucial, life-saving research. Every new development in the field of live research has the potential to exponentially improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of liver disease, improving the lives and health of millions of Canadians living with and at risk of liver disease. Through patient support, education and advocacy programs, the Foundation works to improve the quality of life of those living with liver disease by working with federal, provincial and municipal governments, community organizations, healthcare providers and individuals to raise awareness of liver-related health issues and to push for policy changes that will result in better screening, access to treatment, and patient care.
