More than four decades ago, a small group of Ontario provincial employees came together with a simple but powerful idea: to raise money in the workplace for the Canadian Cancer Society. It was a modest beginning — a few individuals pooling their efforts to support a cause close to their hearts.
Little did they know, their initiative would spark a movement.
Today, that grassroots effort has grown into Federated Health Charities, one of Canada’s largest workplace giving campaigns, supporting 21 health-related charities across the province. It’s a testament to what happens when individual generosity meets collective purpose.

As ADM Linda Chihab (Honourary Chair for the 2025 Campaign) so beautifully put it:
“‘Individual giving. Collective impact.’ is a beautiful theme. It’s about the individual contributions that actually make the big wave and the big change. Federated Health actually began more than 40 years ago when a small group of provincial employees began raising money in the workplace for the Canadian Cancer Society. Little did they know that their collective impact would have grown to where it is today – being one of Canada’s largest workplace giving campaigns! Now that’s an example of collective impact, right?”
A Legacy of Generosity
The story of Federated Health is not just about fundraising. It’s about community. It’s about people who care deeply and act boldly. It’s about the ripple effect of kindness — how one person’s decision to give can inspire others, and how together, we can create lasting change.
As we await the October 1st announcement revealing how much we raised in our 2025 campaign, let’s pause to reflect on the legacy we’ve been carrying forward for the past 42 years — and the impact we’re continuing to build for the future.
On behalf of Federated Health Charities and our 21 member charities, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all who continue to support this campaign. Your generosity is not only appreciated — it’s transformative.
