For many years, Annette Hollinger has been a steadfast supporter of Federated Health Charities, & an annual buyer of Federated Health Lottery Tickets.
Annette’s dedication and support of Federated Health paid off BIG TIME when SHE WON THE $15,000 GRAND PRIZE in the 2024 lottery! Annette has a long history of contributing and leading campaigns at her Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) office for the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS), where her dedication to helping others shines through.
Her journey with Federated Health began with a personal mission to honor her grandfather, who passed away from heart disease. When her children were young, Annette participated in the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s JumpRope for Heart events at their school, making donations in memory of her grandfather.
As her children grew older, Annette’s commitment to Federated Health deepened. She experienced another personal loss when her father succumbed to heart disease. To honor his memory, Annette began making donations to Heart & Stroke through payroll deductions, ensuring her mother received a card each year acknowledging the contributions made in her father’s name. Additionally, Annette extends her support to the Institute for Advancements in Mental Health, in memory of her cousin who struggled with mental health and addiction issues. Her aunt tells Annette that she feels deeply honored to receive a card annually in his memory.
Annette’s dedication to Federated Health extends beyond donations. She vividly recalls a time when lottery tickets were in such high demand in her office that a draw was held just for the chance to purchase them. Determined to secure her tickets, Annette now buys them as soon as they become available.
Last year, Annette’s persistence paid off in a big way. Her name was drawn for the grand prize in the Federated Health lottery! The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Annette and her partner were in the East Coast when they received the exciting news. Says Annette, “This was my view when I got the call! We had just stopped for lunch at the Port of Halifax, and instead of having a snack, we splurged and ordered the biggest seafood platter on the menu!”
“The $15,000 prize money is being used to fund a project I’ve wanted to do for a long time.” says Annette. “My kitchen is in a state of disarray while we renovate!”
Annette’s story is a testament to the personal impact of Federated Health and the importance of supporting its initiatives. She continues to purchase lottery tickets and make payroll donations, participating in as many office events as possible. Having once been the organizer and leader of these events, Annette now enjoys being an enthusiastic participant.
Annette’s unwavering support and her incredible win highlight the significance of Federated Health’s work. Annette hopes that her story inspires others to contribute and participate in Federated Health Charities, and especially the lottery, knowing that our collective support truly does make a difference.
