The Federated Health Charities Advisory Council serves as a vital support body to the Board of Directors, providing thoughtful discussion, feedback, and innovative ideas to enhance the effectiveness of the campaign. The council focuses on fostering strong communication between staff from the OPS, OPP and provincial agencies, acting as a liaison between Federated Health Charities, and the broader community.
The council champions diversity, equity, and inclusion, identifies areas for growth, and ensures ethical principles are always at the forefront. They also help keep the fundraising strategy on track, making sure it’s impactful and aligned with the mission!
How it began
In 2021, we made an important change to our Board structure by increasing the number of OPS voices in decision-making roles—from 1 to 4 people. During recruitment, we were amazed by the overwhelming response from OPS, OPP, and government agency employees eager to get involved. This inspired us to create the OPS Advisory Council as a way to engage even more passionate voices.
The council brings together diverse perspectives from across the public sector to discuss all aspects of Federated Health’s structure, operations, and impact. The valuable insights provided by the council go directly to the Board of Directors and Executive Director for consideration and action.
In 2023, as we further restructured our Board to enhance diversity, efficiency, and effectiveness, we recognized how crucial the OPS Advisory Council had become. We made sure it was integrated into our new governance structure, solidifying its role as an essential part of our leadership and decision-making process. On behalf of Federated Health Charities Corporation, the Advisory Council, and its 21 member charities, we thank you for your continued financial support of health education, medical research, and patient services across Ontario. Your generosity truly makes a difference.
