Let’s All Get Aboard the Payroll Pledge Train!

May 6, 2024

Since the beginning of the campaign, more than a month ago, we’ve talked about why people should donate to Federated Health Charities.

We’ve talked about the history of our campaign and our partnerships with all aspects of the Ontario public service: ministries, agencies and the OPP.

We’ve pulled back the curtain on what it means to be part of a workplace giving campaign, and how you can get money back through the tax benefits of giving. And we’ve written about the people who are affected, their stories and how our charities help them live better lives until a cure is found. So now that you have an understanding of the who, what, and why of this campaign, we’re coming to you with a direct ask – please make a payroll donation to Federated Health Charities today. Payroll pledges are the backbone of the campaign, bringing in 80-90% of the funds raised and they are the donation stream that allows us to provide sustainable funding to our charities.  Payroll pledges help us leverage the size of the Ontario public service – if every OPS, OPP and agency employee committed to giving $52 through a payroll pledge – that’s just $2 per paycheque! – we would raise more than $3.1 million ($52 x 60,000+) for our 21 charities this year!

OPS employees and OPP members can donate to Federated Health Charities via WIN until July 7, 2024.

Agency employees (except Metrolinx and OLG who have online forms) can donate to Federated Health Charities by filling out an electronic form (in English or French) and emailing it to your campaign treasurer (questions about your payroll pledge form, email Federated Health Charities).

Payroll pledges are the most efficient way of supporting our charities. Not only is your donation automatically included on your T4 so its easier to claim your donation as a deduction at tax time, but it is also more efficient for our charities. The Government of Ontario supports our campaign by processing donor pledges through their payroll services each month which lowers the administrative costs for each of our charities hence more of your donation goes to supporting programs, services and research. Pledges also mean that our charities know how much money they can expect from our donors each month so they can better plan how to use your donations more strategically.

So please, donate to Federated Health Charities today.
