Board of Directors Opportunity with Federated Health Charities

Jan 8, 2024

We’re looking for leaders!

Are you a dedicated professional with experience in the not-for-profit, healthcare or charitable fundraising sectors? Do you have a passion for service to your community and the people of Ontario?

Then Federated Health Charities invites you to consider applying for a position on our Board of Directors.

Federated Health Charities is a not-for-profit corporation that raises funds through an annual workplace giving campaign for 21 health charities delivering vital medical research, health education and awareness, and essential client and patient services to people in communities across Ontario.

Federated Health Charities was founded in 1983 by members of the Ontario Public Service to enable them to raise funds in the workplace similar to the United Way’s annual campaigns. Rooted in the tradition of service to our communities, our annual campaign is held in more than 40 workplaces throughout the Ontario Public Service, the Ontario Provincial Police, and participating provincial agencies. Led by dedicated volunteers who donate their time, skills, and creativity on top of their daily responsibilities as public servants, the Federated Health Charities campaign is one of Canada’s longest and most successful workplace giving campaigns, raising more than $55 million for healthier communities across Ontario.

Opportunity

We are seeking six individuals (3 public service employees and 3 community members) interested in joining our Board of Directors to provide organizational and staff oversight to Federated Health Charities, guide our organization towards growth and sustainability, and advance our commitments to diversity, inclusion, equity, and access to healthcare by applying anti-racism, anti-oppression, and health equity lenses to the work of the board.

Interested applicants should have experience in the not-for-profit, fundraising, and/or healthcare sectors. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience working with health charities at a senior level, and/or previous experience at the board level of a not-for-profit or charity.

If you are interested in applying, please review the job posting on LinkedIn and fill out a Nomination Form.

Submit the completed nomination form, along with a cover letter and a copy of your resume via email to sarah.wood2@ontario.ca by 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2024

Thank you for your interest in joining Federated Health Charities and supporting our mission to improve the health and well-being of people in communities across Ontario.

Mental health awareness in Ontario is crucial as wait times for services stretch up to 2.5 years. Federated Health Charities supports innovative mental health initiatives, including youth suicide prevention and schizophrenia care. By funding organizations like the Institute for Advancements in Mental Health (IAM), we aim to create lasting change and support for those affected by mental illness across Ontario.
