This November, make time to learn more about diabetes

Nov 17, 2023

November is Diabetes Awareness Month.

Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in Canada. Currently, close to 12 million people across the country live with diabetes or prediabetes. With more than 200,000 new cases of diabetes diagnosed every year, the number of Canadians living with diabetes is expected to rise 26% over the next 10 years.

“When it comes to managing diabetes, we’re never off the clock,” says Laura Syron, President & CEO of Diabetes Canada, who lives with type 2 diabetes. “The condition demands our time and attention like another part-time job, but we at Diabetes Canada believe that those day-to-day realities can inspire more Canadians to take the time to educate themselves and share the knowledge with their family and friends this Diabetes Awareness Month.”

Diabetes Canada was one of the first charities to join Federated Health Charities in 1983.

For 40 years. Diabetes Canada and Federated Health Charities have worked together to help those affected by diabetes live healthy lives, prevent the onset and consequences of diabetes, and ultimately, find a cure.

Visit Diabetes Canada this November and make time to learn more about the reality of living with diabetes.

And donate to Federated Health Charities today for healthier communities and a world free of the effects of diabetes.
