How to get involved – Federated Health Charities

How to get involved

Since 1983, members of the Ontario Public Service representing provincial ministries, crown agencies and the OPP have come together in the spring to raise funds for Federated Health Charities. This campaign supports the work of 21 different health charities providing critical programs, services, medical research and health education in communities across Ontario. The annual Federated Health Charities campaign is one of Canada’s most successful and longest-running workplace giving campaigns. Thanks to the generosity, hard work and dedication of Ontario’s public servants, we have raised more than $54 million to support our charities over the last 40 years.

Federated Health Charities is immensely grateful to Ontario’s public servants who have given their time, skills and money over the years to make our annual campaign a success. Your hard work has helped make a difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and families across Ontario from providing people who have spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities with equipment to enhance their independence to supporting the families of children with autism to funding research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of heart attack and stroke, which kills one woman in Canada every 16 minutes and so much more. This is a legacy that all provincial employees should take pride in, whether 2023 is your first campaign or your 21st.

Our 40th annual Federated Health Charities campaign will kick off on Monday, April 3, 2023. Provincial employees participate in our campaign in two ways – through their donations and by volunteering to help fundraise for Federated Health Charities as part of their ministry, agency or OPP campaign.

If you would like to take part in your local Federated Health Charities campaign, you can find a list of campaign chairs for 2023 posted on our website: Current Campaign Chairs. If you are a provincial employee and you can’t find a contact person for your organization or you represent a crown agency that would like to join the Federated Health Charities campaign, please contact our Executive Director, Sarah Woods.

Provincial employees can donate to Federated Health Charities in any or all of four ways. Through payroll pledges, one-time donations, participating in special events organized by your local ministry, agency or OPP campaign, and buying tickets for the Federated Health Charities lottery. Lottery tickets go on sale through our website starting April 3, 2023, and ending June 25, 2023. Only 25,000 tickets are available for a chance to win one of five cash prizes, including a $15,000 grand prize, so buy your tickets early before they sell out.

Unfortunately, lottery ticket sales are only open to provincial employees in participating OPS ministries, agencies and the OPP but if you are a member of the public who would like to support Federated Health Charities and our mission to improve the health and well-being of Ontarians, you can donate. You can also volunteer with Federated Health Charities – learn more about available opportunities by visiting our website.

April is World Autism Month and Sunday, April 2, 2023, is World Autism Day.
