Liver Research: Improvements made possible through Federated Health

Liver Health Research and Medical Advancements in Canada

The Canadian Liver Foundation is grateful to Federated Health Charities for the workplace fundraising campaigns held across the Ontario Public Service (OPS), Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other provincial government agencies over the past 40+ years. More than half of the Liver Foundation’s annual funding comes from donors like you. The overwhelming success and collective support of Federated Health Charities funds meaningful work in agencies like ours. Thank you!

Recent research achievements, projects, programs, and initiatives that Federated Health dollars were used for in 2024 by the Canadian Liver Foundation demonstrate the impact of your donations. We are extremely pleased to share 5 ways your donations were used:

1. We expanded the FibroScan fatty liver disease screening program from British Columbia to Nova Scotia and Ontario, so more people can benefit from liver health assessment. This pilot program offers FREE screening to Canadians to detect liver scarring and fatty liver disease.

2. Three in-person liver health forums, providing liver education and information sharing from leading liver experts.

3. Liver-friendly recipes  – your ultimate guide to tasty, liver-friendly meals that are a celebration of healthy choices, mouth-watering recipes, essential nutrition facts, and expert advice to help manage your liver health and prevent liver disease.

4. National help line 1 (800) 563-5483 and resource hub for clients and caregivers specific resources or to learn more about the support available to you.

5. In 2024, our research focus was on liver cancer. We funded 4 liver cancer researchers in Canada, who are all working to find better treatment options (improvement of life) for those affected by liver cancer.

On behalf of the Canadian Liver Foundation and all Federated Health Charities, we thank you for your continued financial support of health education, medical research, and patient services across Ontario. Your generosity truly makes a difference.
