“I was very fortunate with my cancer diagnosis. We got to navigate my journey quite seamlessly,” says Erin Donahue. But even with a smooth path, the weight of the words “you have cancer” is something no one forgets.
“If it wasn’t for the Canadian Cancer Society – Ontario, I would have felt alone,” Erin shares. “It’s comforting to walk hand in hand, to know that you have supports in your community.”
Cancer can be one of the most isolating experiences a person faces. Erin knows this firsthand. “Knowing that there are other support networks, their resources available to you can make what’s very, very isolating feel very connected.”
That feeling – that you’re not alone – is priceless. “I’m ever grateful for the Canadian Cancer Society and all of the volunteers that feed into that organization.” To the donors: thank you so much!
Erin’s gratitude turned into action. Today, she’s not only a client of one of Federated Health’s 21 health charities, she’s also a Federated Health donor, an active campaign volunteer, and a passionate advocate. She shares her story at fundraising events and lunch-and-learns across the Ontario Public Service because she believes in the power of community, the value of understanding, and the difference donors make.
Your generosity through Federated Health Charities makes this possible. Every dollar helps someone like Erin access life-changing support, find trusted information, and feel less alone during one of life’s hardest challenges.
If you’ve given, thank you for making a difference. If you haven’t yet, please consider joining us in the next Federated Health Charities campaign.
