As we step into 2025, I’ve been reflecting on the remarkable and impactful year that 2024 was for us at Federated Health Charities. Our Spring campaign was a tremendous success, surpassing our goal of raising $1.6 million. This staggering amount benefits our 21 health charities, enabling them to make significant improvements in client care, support, prevention initiatives, and advance the ongoing work toward better treatments and cures.
When I think back on the 2024 fundraising campaign, three words stand out: collaboration, community, and connection. Volunteers truly embraced the idea of a united Ontario Public Service (OPS), making linkages across their specific ministry or agency. They reached out to collaborate with campaign teams across the OPS, organizing fun and creative events. Employees used the campaign as a reason to come together once again – gathering to participate in campaign activities and rekindle a sense of community within the workplace. That level of connection was inspiring! New employees got to know long-standing colleagues, staff from different ministries met each other, and many of you connected with individuals from the recipient charities. Connection was embedded throughout the campaign, serving as a powerful reminder of the heart of this work.
2024 also marked significant progress for Federated Health in advancing our commitments to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and health equity – achievements that fill me with immense pride. The conversations that took place between OPS employees, campaign volunteers, Federated Health staff, and representatives from our recipient charities were thoughtful, challenging, and incredibly valuable. There was a unanimous commitment across the board to ensure that Federated Health remains a charity that fully represents the interests of Ontario Public Servants. As a result, we made significant changes to our governance structure, decision-making processes, and diverse representation. I am in awe of what we accomplished and proud to have been part of this important work and want to express my gratitude to all those who shared their perspectives throughout this journey. Looking ahead to 2025, I feel a sense of hope and anticipation for what another year will bring. Plans are well underway to launch another fun, engaging, and meaningful campaign, with ambitious goals of raising another significant sum for our deserving charities. Throughout the planning process, we’ve been inspired by the idea that individual giving leads to collective impact. The stories of OPS employees across the province—stories of health struggles and triumphs, stories of volunteerism, and stories of charitable commitment—have deeply inspired us. This year, we are committed to sharing these stories, showcasing that this campaign is driven by the hearts of individuals. When passionate people come together, the impact they can make is truly extraordinary.
