Alcohol Consumption and Liver Damage

National Addictions Awareness Week (Nov 24-30): Alcohol Consumption and Liver Damage. The Canadian Liver Foundation

National Addictions Awareness Week (November 24–30, 2024) emphasizes the importance of understanding and addressing addiction while reducing stigma surrounding substance use.

Liver Damage Awareness Alcohol Consumption Prevention Canada

The Canadian Liver Foundation warns that excessive alcohol consumption can harm various organs, including the liver and brain. For over 50 years, they have educated Canadians about the severe risks associated with high alcohol intake, which can lead to conditions like fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Chronic alcohol use can also result in mental health issues such as addiction, anxiety, depression, and dementia.

To promote healthier choices, individuals are encouraged to stay within recommended drinking limits or abstain altogether. As part of National Addictions Awareness Week, community health charities provide vital support and resources to help individuals and their families, affected by addiction.
