Celebrating Collective Impact: 2025 Federated Health Charities Campaign Wrap Event

Jul 2, 2025

On June 26, the 2025 Federated Health Charities Campaign concluded with a heartfelt Wrap Event, celebrating the compassion, commitment, and generosity of Ontario Public Service (OPS) employees, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and provincial agencies. Together, they raised an astounding $1.63 million—surpassing the campaign’s ambitious $1.6 million goal—with donations still coming in.

“This campaign is more than an annual tradition,” said Linda Chihab, Honourary Chair and ADM at the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, one of the event’s speakers. “It is a powerful reflection of our shared values of compassion, community, and commitment to health.”

Since its inception, Federated Health Charities has united OPS employees and partners in support of 21 health-focused charities across Ontario. These organizations are on the front lines of healthcare research and support services, tackling some of the most pressing health challenges of our time—from cancer and heart disease to ALS, diabetes, and mental health.

“Every one of us, including myself, has been touched by these conditions,” Linda shared. “Whether it’s personally, through a loved one, a colleague, or a neighbour—that’s what makes this campaign so incredibly meaningful.”

The campaign’s success was driven by a variety of fundraising efforts:

  • $1.3 million from payroll pledges
  • $70,000 from one-time donations
  • $175,000 from special events
  • $88,000 from lottery ticket sales—a record-breaking increase from last year

Jennifer Nebesky, President and CEO of the Canadian Liver Foundation, representing the 21 member charities, shared her gratitude:

“When you give through this campaign, you’re not just making a one-time impact. You’re helping us build sustainable programs, fund long-term research, and provide consistent care to individuals and families who are often facing the most difficult moments in their lives. Your donations are not just numbers—they are lifelines.”

Danielle James, an Adjudicator with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, Chair of the Federated Health Advisory Council, and member of the Federated Health Board of Directors, emphasized the often-unseen efforts behind the scenes:

“The success of the Federated Health campaign depends on so many more volunteers than we often realize. From donation processing teams to communications staff, event planners, and campaign ambassadors—none of this just happens. It takes intention, effort, and a whole lot of heart.”

She added, “The Federated Health Charities team is small but mighty. What we accomplish each year is only possible because of the incredible network of volunteers across the province who step up time and time again. You are the heart of the campaign.”

Sarah Wood, Federated Health Charities’ Executive Director proudly shared that “this year’s campaign saw record-breaking engagement. Over 1,000 people attended lunch-and-learn sessions featuring lived experience OPS speakers. Social media engagement soared, with a 400% increase in followers across platforms. The silent auction alone raised over $22,000—far exceeding its $5,000 goal. And, in it’s first week raised almost a half million dollars in payroll pledges! Wow!”

“As the campaign transitions to distributing funds to its 21 partner charities, a new monthly donor newsletter will launch to keep supporters informed year-round about the impact of their contributions” she added.

“You didn’t just raise funds,” Linda concluded. “You are changing lives, building a legacy—a legacy of care, support, and hope.”
