Today is the last day of the 2023 Federated Health Charities campaign.
As I said at the start of the campaign, Federated Health Charities’ success is a testament to the dedication, generosity and hard work of Ontario’s public servants. For more than 40 years, provincial employees representing the Ontario Public Service, the OPP, and provincial agencies across Ontario have turned out to make our campaign a success. Our charities and the people they serve know they can count on Ontario’s provincial employees for help, and 2023 is no exception.
The 2023 campaign has raised more than $1.3 million of our $1.6 million goal, and we expect that total to continue to grow. While our official campaign ends today, many ministries and agencies will continue to hold events to raise funds through July, and donations continue to roll in.
If you haven’t donated yet, please take a few minutes today to make a payroll donation to Federated Health Charities. If every OPS, OPP and agency employee donated $52 by making a payroll pledge – just $2 per paycheque! – that would add up to more than $3 million – nearly twice our 2023 goal.
OPS employees and OPP members can donate to Federated Health Charities via WIN until July 9, 2023.
Agency employees can donate to Federated Health Charities by filling out an electronic form (in English or French) and emailing it to your campaign treasurer (if you have questions about how to fill out your payroll pledge form or contact your local campaign, please email Federated Health Charities).
I want to thank everyone who donated, attended a special event and bought lottery tickets. Your donations will make a real difference in the lives of people and families affected by serious illness and disease across Ontario. The money our campaign raises each year provides our charities with unrestricted funding that they can put to the area of greatest need, whether that’s providing equipment, free-of-charge, for people living with ALS, or setting up programs to help connect people living with cystic fibrosis with clinical trials for new treatments. Your donations will help make life-saving research to improve the prevention, detection and management of heart failure happen, and it will help provide kids and young adults living with chronic health conditions like Crohn’s disease, diabetes, and hemophilia with summer camps and recreational programs. On behalf of each of our 21 charities, thank you for donating to Federated Health Charities.
I especially want to thank our amazing volunteers in ministry offices, OPP detachments and provincial agencies across Ontario. This campaign would not happen every year without our volunteers. We’re a small team at Federated Health Charities with just three full-time staffers. We could not organize and execute a campaign the size of ours without our volunteers.
Every year for more than 40 years, when we have asked for help, provincial employees have answered and we couldn’t be more grateful. Each year, our volunteers for give us their time, creativity, and skills to make the Federated Health Charities campaign happen. On behalf of myself, Tatyana, Kate, Cristhian and the 21 charities that make up Federated Health Charities, thank you for helping make our 2023 campaign a success!
Thank you again to our donors, to everyone who came out to an event and our awesome volunteers for a great campaign.
Happy 40th Anniversary and here’s to the next 40 years!
