Federated Health Charities supports 21 different health charities

Provide services across the province of Ontario.  These charities provide a range of service that include patient support, information and resources, community education and awareness, advocacy, and research.  What this looks like for each charity varies based on the unique needs of the illness they focus on and the community they support.

With the long list of illnesses supported by Federated Health, the unfortunate reality is that most of us will be impacted by at least one of these illnesses in our lifetime.

Whether that is us personally or one of our loved ones.  Should that happen, it is important to know how you can access services from these charities to help you along the way.

Health Hint! Federated Health Charities proporcionará consejos generales sobre cómo conectarse con la organización benéfica de su elección.

Reaching out to a new service provider can be intimidating so our charities provide ample ways to obtain information and support from the comfort of your home.  This allows you to go at your pace, learn, and if/when you are comfortable, reach out for further support.

Support of Federated Health Charities You Can Access at Home

Websites for Resources or Information:

Often, upon receiving a diagnosis, people want more information.  Our charities recognize that and stock their websites with lots of free information and resources that you can peruse at your own pace.  You can find the websites for all 21 of our charities on our website

Virtual Educational Events/Webinars:

Our charities are connected with many specialists in their fields and often bring them in to hold more intensive educational events.  You can often access a calendar of available events or webinars on the charity’s website.  These are a great opportunity to gain more in-depth knowledge in a format that fits your comfort and schedule.

Live Chat Functions:

If you are looking to speak with a real person but are not yet ready to call or meet in-person then this would be a good option for you.  Some of our charities have live chat functions on their websites where you can speak to an employee of the charity in real-time, from the comfort of your home.

Contact Us Section:

All of our charities provide the option to contact the organization through their websites ‘Contact Us’ section.  This provides the option to ask a personal question without having to call or visit the organization.

Looking to Connect with Others?

Community Events:

most charities host various events that provide the opportunity for you to connect with other members of the community.  This can allow you to meet others in a similar situation as you are in a safe & supportive environment.  You can usually find a calendar of these events on the charity website.

Charity Staff & Specialists:

If you are interested in connecting with a member of the charities staff to receive direct support then a good place to start is to call the general inquiries number on their website.  This will allow you to explain your circumstances and to be directed to the appropriate support person.

Once you are involved with a charity you will soon build a community of support and have access to a variety of events, services, and resources.  But taking that first step to reach out can sometimes be the hardest, so we hope that this article has given you some tips on how to take that first step in a way that you are comfortable with.

We hope you enjoyed our latest Health Hint!
